Say Goodbye to the World’s Highest Glacier

The highest glacier in the world is set to disappear forever. The Chacaltaya glacier, which formerly served as Bolivia’s only ski resort, was the world’s highest lift-served ski area and the northernmost ski area in South America. All that remains of the ski area is a 600-foot stretch that is only occasionally covered in snow, and that will be gone within months.
The glacier has melted 6 years earlier than predicted. Check out this AP report:
Now, the region has to face the realities of how Chacaltaya’s loss will affect the water supply. The glaciers that ring the cities in this part of Bolivia have long acted as natural low-maintenance water reservoirs, and if people are to remain living in the area, a new reservoir must be built. Taps have already dried up in the poor urban city of El Alto.
It would appear to be another casualty of global warming, but since “ClimateGate” proved that global warming is a scam, it must just be a figment of our collective imagination, huh?
