We all make New Year’s resolutions that slowly fade away after just a few weeks… if we ever really make an effort to follow them at all. Saving more energy is a big one for a lot of people, and we mean well, but it can be tough to decipher bills and monitor energy usage for all of our separate utilities.

An awesome online tool called Earth Aid removes the excuses – so resolve away, and be confident that you can keep up with it! Earth Aid not only keeps track of all your utilities in one place, but rewards you for saving energy.

From the Earth Aid website:

Learn About Your Utility Use in Context

Earth Aid’s free, patent-pending web application is the first and only that enables households to monitor their actual electric, gas, and water utility usage all together and in context online – all to help you see the big picture.

Get Help Finding Opportunities to Save

We’re here to make it easy to find the right tips for saving energy and water. Earth Aid automatically highlights the local, state, and federal rebates, tax incentives, and discounts that make it even more economical for you to save.

Receive Rewards for Saving

When you save energy or water, you earn Earth Aid Rewards Points – redeemable for exclusive rewards, discounts, and offers from our network of Earth Aid Rewards Partners. City by city and town by town, we’re adding new Rewards Partners who want to help incentivize sustainable living at home. Click here to learn how to bring an Earth Aid Rewards Network to your community.

If your energy or water usage rises, you’ll actually get an email notification. And it’s pretty gratifying to see all those points add up as you improve your consumption habits. It does, however, take a full year of participation before you get any rewards (as Earth Aid gets a chance to analyze your usage).

Once your annual savings is calculated, it’s turned into a carbon credit and traded on the carbon market. You don’t have to deal with that part – Earth Aid sends you a check for the price of your credit.

Ultimately, where Earth Aid could be most valuable is with those who don’t already have an incentive to save energy (i.e. caring about the environment) – so pass it on to your friends and family.
